   FS2000/Combat Flight Simulator 2 Flight Test Gauges - October-2002

Installation:

This archive contains all of the files necessary to create a test panel.  Backup or rename the original aircraft panel folder and then copy the enclosed "cfg" and "bmp" files to the panel folder.

Copy the enclosed "gau" files to your FS2000 or CFS2 gauges folder.  

These versions of the Flight Test Gauge use the FS2000 gauge file format.  If you are adding these gauges to an existing panel.cfg file, use the following syntax to add these flight test gauges:

Flight Test gauge:

gauge00=Jwb_flight_recorder!recorder,84,395


CAUTION:  These gauges will only work with FS2000 and CFS2!  They will NOT work with FS98 or CFS.  

Note:  There is an equivalent version of this gauge for CFS: JWB.rstack.gau

Data recording:  

Clicking on the RUN button will turn both recorder control buttons from RED to GREEN, open a file named "data_log.txt" in your main "Combat Flight Simulator" folder, and start logging flight data to the file.  The data window to the left of the control buttons is a counter index that is incremented every half second.  The following flight data is recorded every half second:  counter index, air speed, altitude, pitch attitude, climb rate, g-force, compass heading, turn rate, bank attitude, roll rate, prop pitch, horse power, and prop thrust.

If the recorder is running, pressing the PAUSE button will turn the PAUSE icon RED and recording will stop, but the data log file will stay open.  Pressing the PAUSE icon again will turn the PAUSE button GREEN again and start data recording again.

If the recorder is running, clicking on the RUN button will turn both control buttons RED again, stop all recording, and close the data log file.

Warning!

Every time the RUN button is clicked to start data recording, the file "data_log.txt" is erased.  To repeat, whenever the RUN button cycles from RED to GREEN, whatever was in the file "data_log.txt" is lost.  That's why the pause button is there.  If you want to stop and start data recording during a single test run, USE THE PAUSE BUTTON!

The file JWB_flight_recorder.gau also contains several "standalone" 5-digit displays for:

airspeed
cannon ammo counter
gun ammo counter
radar altimeter
g-force
center of gravity percentage
horsepower
mach speed
