ETSA Landsberg am Lech is a Luftwaffe logistics center and the home base of the Lufttransport-Geschwader 61 (LTG61) which uses the medium size Transall C-160 and will be equipped eventually with the A400M made by airbus. Unfortunenately for both the Luftwaffe and the taxpayer the decision for the A400M was made against the more efficient and technically superior An-70 which would have almost perfectly matched the technical and commercial requirements.The airbase houses also the Luftwaffen-Instandhaltungs-Regiment 1 (repair and maintenance regiment ) and the air defense group FlaRak 22 .ETSA is also the main supply center for all missions the Luftwaffe is committed to support i.e. in Mashar-i-Sharif. The An-124 and the Il-76 are a permanent sight in ETSA.
