description=This much travelled airliner was completed at Hurn as a Series 530FX with the constructor’s number BAC240. It was rolled out of the assembly hangar on 2nd March 1972 in full British Caledonian Airways colours with the name “Isle of Raasay” on its forward fuselage. The aircraft took to the air for the first time two days later. Its initial Certificate of Airworthiness (CofA) was granted on the 10th March and after twelve hours of air-testing during which it completed eight landings, it was delivered to British Caledonian Airways at Gatwick on the 14th March 1972. It entered service with the airline on the 17th March 1972 and was used on the company’s extensive European and Domestic network and on inclusive tour charter work.
