If, however, you consider yourself an expert, then read it anyway and compare it to the list of features below that are going to be implemented in our project.

Panel Features

We are determined to create the most realistic panel ever made for FS2002 and include in it the following features:

Realistic rendering of all the gauges. 3D-looking cockpit using the latest techniques in rendering the shadows and using high quality textures.
Vector gauges - EADI, EHSI, and ECAM. Using the new technology we have achieved the capability of smoothing the lines to a point where they don't look edged anymore, but instead have nice and smooth curves which allows the data in the gauges to change without jitters.
Complete implementation of EHSI and EADI functionality and modes of operation
Two fully operational ECAM displays. This alert and warning system would include all of the real sounds and warning messages which the real pilot would see in a real cabin.
Absolute overall functionality of the panel. All the gauges and switches would be working, and if there is a button, you can bet that it is there for a reason and not for the dummy effect.
Real-world modeled systems of the airplane. Electrical, hydraulic, air and fuel system, all of that would work exactly as if it would be in a real plane.
All altimeters work independently. If you set 1013 millibars on primary altimeter, this doesn't mean you'll get the same barometric setting on others.
Individual and Complex failure system. Just like in a real life, there is always a chance that something can go wrong, small things, big things, all of things… And the functionality of the onboard equipment would depend on the functionality of the aircraft systems, so one failure could trigger malfunctions in many other gauges and controls.
Realistic procedure for the APU and Engine startup. But we do know that not all of you are pro pilots, so we will include an option where you can select the level of realism that fits you best.
100% real-functionality FMS. This onboard computer will be fully functional in every mode of operation including even the functions which were never used in MSFS before. With this one you can be sure that if there is a function in the real FMS, we would have it too.
Ability to print the flight plans which would be identical to those used by real pilots
100% authentic AFDS (Automatic Flight Direction System) which is used to fly the plane during all stages beginning from the take-off and all the way to complete engine shut-down at the gate at the end of the trip.
100% real Auto-Thrust functionality in all stages of the flight such as Climb or Descent
Fully functional IRS (Inertial Reference System) which would be depended upon by all the navigation equipment on your plane.
Fully functional RAT (Ram Air Turbine)

Enough about the panel, let's take a look at the airplane itself...

100% real dynamic flight model developed and rigorously tested by real A310 pilots
Virtual cockpit will stun you with the details making you feel as if it would be the real thing.
Visual model done using the real design blueprints of the A310, so everything that you would see on the real plane, you will see here too.
The plane will utilize everything that MSFS has to offer. Everything that is animated in a real A310, is animated in our plane. Rotating wheels, opening doors not only in the passenger cabin, but even a small window in the cockpit (pilots need some fresh air, when on the ground, too). We even decided to include the suspension effect, so when you move or land, you will see the shock absorbers on the tires in action. - Got you excited, didn't we? But this is just a short list of all the visual features that would be implemented in the plane.
High resolution textures will insure that the plane would look even closer to the real thing.
And finally, we will even give you the tool to repaint the plane however you want, so every plane can be truly unique.

But even that is not all. In the package we will also include some utilities…

Plane load utility will include everything you need. Passenger and Freight Load Utility, Fuel Calculator which will calculate the amount of fuel needed based on the loaded flight plan, or based on the flight plan in the process of creation.
Utility to add Navaids, SID/STAR to the database
A Collection of templates for you to repaint the plane

Well, we got most of the things out to you, so it is time for us to get back to work. If we continue on working on this list, it will take us just as long as to develop the plane itself :) , so we will stop at the basic description and very soon you will be able to fly the plane and see for yourself all of the functionality and its features, some of which are really unique for today's MSFS level of development.

Date: 2004/3/11
Section: Products
The URL for this article is: http://simsoftworkshop.com/modules/wfsection/article.php?articleid=2
