F-5 Won competition on a perspective fighter for allies so why not to try in third time twice? The third attempt became F-5G (the designation is changed on F-20 "Tigershark"). Officially the program of creation of this plane started in January of 1980 as the answer to the specification of the Air Forces of the USA "Intermediate export fighter", but was developed under requirements of the most probable customer - Taiwan. To nationalist China the car equipped TRD F404 and capable to apply Ur of a class "air-air" of average range AIM-7 was required.
