There is a considerable field for astronomical navigation. When there are no radio navigation aids, and magnetic compass is unusable due to high and fast changing magnetic variation, the astronomical navigation method is the only one possible. Вещь хорошая, полезная, только кольцо курсов в диапазоне где-то от 30 до 300 довоьно сильно коробит, некрасиво, а подчас и трудно читать показание.

Искажения появляются из-за ограничения точности тригонометрических вычислений в XML-приборах. Когда разрабатывался прибор, еще не умел "резать" битмапки для улучшения отрисовки и уменьшения искажений.

Sun compass like this one (the so-called "shadow" type), we have not been used. In fact, this device was used on old planes. For example, using him to fly to both poles (and North and South), Richard Byrd. Installation - like any other instrument. *. CAB - file is copied to a folder GAUGES simulator, and file panel.cfg add a new panel. So for example: ---------------------- cut line [WindowXX] Background_color = 0,0,0 size_mm = 800,600 window_size_ratio = 1.000 position = 0 visible = 0 ident = 20 gauge00 = sun_compass! Sun_Compass, 50,50,450,450 ---------------------- cut here line XX - number of panels in the file. Entry in the header panel.cfg also not forget. And what this device is needed - read the description (PDF-file whose name ends there is attached, in Russian).
